This deadbolt is a basic design that can be made in any size to suit your purpose, with the average overall size being about 12" in length for larger garage or barn doors.
The parts are lined up and welded to two backing plates, which are in turn bolted (or welded) to the door and door case.
(A) - This is the minimum space needed to allow the deadbolt to open. The back block (B) can be located anywhere outside of this space, as shown in the drawing.
(B) - The 3 blocks are made from 1" square stock. The deadbolt itself is made of 1/2" round stock.
(C) - The deadbolt lifts up over this bar of metal and slides left or right. This bar (directly below C) is drilled to allow a lock to be placed at this point .
